Labrador, Decker, Dog
So, I found a way to improvise a plaster (toilet tissue and sticky tape) for the days when you really need one but there are none. I signed for a delivery of a bed... twice. I watched four films and I wrote some more Harry Potter Fanfiction (of course, LupinTonks. And I did a little VoldemortBellatrix writings as well. Don't blame me for being sick and twisted!) which has, incidentally, become my obsession for the month. I don't think there will be a continuing obsession next month because it's only a week until I get back to school and then my only obsession will be narrowly avoiding multiple detentions by scraping together a mediocre piece of homework the night before the deadline. So... the films. I watched Ghost, Dirty Dancing (yes, a bit of a Patrick Swayze phase), Pan's Labyrinth and Top Gun. They're probably all in my top ten films of all time. I think Top Gun and Dirty Dancing are tied for first place, both being so fabulous.
Dirty Dancing, for those that don't know (shame on you!) is the story of Baby's holiday at the Kellerman Mountain Lodge holiday place. Kinda like 60s American Butlins. So anyway, she goes off in search for something more interesting to do than knit and watch kids on Spacehoppers, and finds herself dancing in the arms of the hotel's hearthrob, Johnny Castle. His usual partner is pregnant and needs an abortion, but doing so means missing the biggest performance of the year. Enter Baby, who offers to learn the dance and perform it with Johnny. It all goes surprisingly well, considering she is a rich kid who has never seen the real world and never danced before in her life and he is a man that lives hand-to-mouth and spends lots of time with sad, lonely women who have thrown themselves at him while their husbands are at an all night poker game. There's a bit of a mishap when Daddy find out that Baby is not the good little girl that he thinks she is and Johnny gets fired from his job, but it all turns out good in the end, with a stunning finale in which Baby finally performs the move that she's been failing to master for most of the movie.
Top Gun: the academy where the top 1% of U.S. Navy aviators (that's pilots to us mere mortals) are sent to learn the *ahem* noble art of Dogfighting. No, that doesn't mean setting your labrador upon next doors Jack Russell; it's a very dangerous and complex aerial battle in which two planes attempt to fire upon each other. This can only be done by the best of the best - the top dogs, as it were. Enter Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, who thinks that he is not only God's gift to women, but to flying, the Navy, Top Gun Academy and the world in general. He is arrogant and over-confident. True enough, he is a good pilot, but so are the rest of the guys and it's them he has to beat in order to win the coveted Top Gun trophy. He fails to graduate first in his class however, but this may be forgiven, considering that he lost his flight partner Goose (who was played by Anthony "That-Guy-From-E.R." Edwards) during a training exercise. All is reconciled by the final battle, in which Maverick performs some terrific flying and saves his rival, the winner of the Top Gun trophy, Iceman. They, of course, become firm friends from then on. And he gets the girl!
Ooh and I found this in [info]blackunicorn777</lj>'s journal. It was fun to do. I'm particularly pleased about the Sirius Black one *squee*. And in almost worried that both Voldemort AND Bellatrix want me dead. And Bellatrix wants to torture me first *gulp*. And let's not even think about what Lucius thinks *shudder*.

As you may notice, I'm feeling cynical. My favourite emotion to feel.
