And again... I've been off this site for a couple of months. Mainly because I have very little to say apart from "SHIT SHIT GCSEs!!" (which, by the way, started on my birthday with my German oral test). Oh, wait. There is news... I swam in a gala on 03/05/08. It was my first gala since being promoted to county and I did pretty well. Four personal bests in five races wasn't too bad at all, but they were all by only about a second. I wanted faster!! Except my last event; 100m Butterfly (a favourite of mine). Because of things, I wasn't racing until about 22:15 for that because the meet had taken so long. Anyway, I was against one of my friends and we'd whipped each other to fever pitch with an argument of "I'm going to win!" "No, I'm going to win!". But I knew I had to win because she's twelve and I'm now sixteen (the shame!). But I won. And knocked five seconds off of my previous time. And got a silver medal. And was only one second slower than the gold medallist. Who was twenty-nine. Also put me one second slower than Mitchell. Gah. But things are going well. I'll beat him next time. So, my german and spanish orals... went pretty well... I froze on one question in the german one (how on earth does she expect me to explain in detail the effects of smoking on the body... in german!!) and kept speaking german in my spanish one (like saying "sind" instead of "son"). But it's all over now and I should have got a B for Spanish and at least an A for German. I hope. So what else is happening? Well, it's hot. And I got sunburned. A little. Also... totally obsessed with Derek/Addison, from Grey's Anatomy. Lol. I'm a loser.

Neglect!

Oh my poor neglected LiveJournal with only three (is it three? I didn't look... just skipped straight to posting) entries and nothing of real value. Let me first explain my absence and then explain my aprupt return.
My total lack of posting for nearly eight months is down to a couple of things, one of which is good and one of which is not so, but will be over soon. I'm sure that with a tiny piece of intuition, you will realise that the latter of these is, in fact, exams. This school year is the year of the biggest and most important set of exams that I will probably have to take. It's needless to say that I am both nervous and working hard and my confidence is only boosted by the fact that I nearly achieved straight As in my mocks (I only recieved one B, and that was in Spanish, a course that I've only been studying for a year and a half). That was pretty good for me. However, that was before Christmas and now the real exams are just around the corner; the pressure is really on. Adding to this pressure is the fact that I now swim for county; that means training four weekday evenings after school and three mornings per week. This makes me very tired and also cuts into the time I need in order to do my schoolwork. I manage, but it's hard. Why then, you may be asking, am I at the computer rather than revising? Alas, I would answer, I would much rather do this than revise right at this moment. Not wise, but what can you do? I have also dug from the archives of my notebooks, a Lupin/Tonks fic that I may publish somewhere at some point. Another reason for coming back is that fact that I have just discovered both my love for a certain Asreal/Marissa pairing (from His Dark Materials) and also a brilliant community on this site. I intend to lurk around there a little and post something when I get an inspired idea (unfortunately, I haven't read His Dark Materials in a long time for the same reasons that this has been my first blog post in months).

Chaotic Weekend

The title pretty much says it all. Well, today wasn't too bad, but yesterday was insane. My friend and I decided to go shopping in Oxford because we needed to get an outfit for when we go to the theatre later in the year to see Lee Mead as Joseph. I'm so excited! Only 67 days to go! I've been having a daily countdown every day since we booked the tickets! So anyway. We thought we should get outfits that are like our very own technicolour dreamcoats; I've got a blue long-sleeved T-shirt, a magenta vest, a yellow camisole, a green skirt, red tights, stripy multicoloured knee-high socks, glittery legwarmers and red converse. Also some bright necklaces, loads of makeup and I'm thinking of spraying my hair pink a là Tonks. Yeah, I'll look so cool. But yeah. It's part of the mood! So what if my Mum refuses to come near me for the whole day?! So we went and bought all this and then thought "Hey, lets go and see Knocked Up". So I texted my Mum and told her we were going to see a movie and would head back when it finished. When the movie was over and we went to look for a bus, we couldn't find one anywhere and my Mum was going ape-shit when we finally found a stop because we didn't get there in time for the bus and she thought we were going to have to wait an hour for the next on, and by that point it was getting dark. I thought that Mum was going to kill me because she hates me being out after dark, but I got off pretty lightly. A load of "Be More Careful" lecture and set to bed as soon as I got in. Not too bad and I needed to get to bed early anyway because I had swimming this morning and I have to get up at six for that. And it was so exhausting. More so than normal in fact, because our normal coach was away, so I ended up joining the county squad session. Let me explain; I'm in club squad and county squad is a level up and much harder work. So I was exhausted. Then I read in the garden for most of the day because we had, as they say in poker, a full house. My Mum's brother and his crazy wife were around as well as Mum's almost boyfriend. Full house. Then we walked the dog and here I am.

First Post

So this is my first post. Yay. I've just got back off holiday and I swam, slept, ate, read and swam. I went to Cyprus, where we go every year and it was lovely. Now, I've got to do something to my journal theme because I went in blind when I was setting it and it sucks. EDIT: Yays much better.
Well, I just got back from swimming and I think I did pretty well, considering I was out for over a month. I got some good times as well, for 25m:
Front Crawl: 15.8 secs
Butterfly: 16.3 secs
And even better, I got to race the guys because they're the only ones faster than me. Woot.
